Leonard Marin was born in 2002 and lives in Freiburg.
From his earliest memories, he has aspired to work in the context of film. At first, it was not about contributing to a specific area, but about creating something that would endure.
After graduating from high school, he gained his first practical experience on set, initially as an extra and in small speaking roles. However, he soon realized that working behind the camera interested him far more than being in front of it. He began working as a set runner, taking every opportunity to continue learning and to become familiar with the various areas of film production.
An important step for him was his first work as a director on a music video, which he created for a close friend. This experience led to two further projects that he also directed. Although these works were significant for him, he always knew that in the long term he wanted to work in the field of narrative filmmaking.
In the summer of 2025, Leonard had the opportunity to write and direct a promotional series as part of the ISMS Festival. It consisted of six episodes, each three minutes long. It was the first time he had full responsibility for a project from beginning to end.
During various productions, he also met one of his closest friends today. At the end of 2025, they collaborated on his graduation project.
Since October 2025, Leonard has been working at the Freiburg-based production company B2W filmworks, where he continues to develop his practical skills in camera, sound, and editing, and to grow continuously as part of a team.
A particular highlight for him was the AHUL project, realized in February 2026 in Tenerife and Gran Canaria in collaboration with Barbara Rolf. Beyond the extraordinary locations, what stood out most to him was the collaboration within a young team. Together with his colleagues Aaron and Fatjon, he worked on a project that opened up a new dimension for all of them. This made the trust placed in them all the more valuable, as well as the opportunity to contribute their own ideas and to work in an experimental way.
