The Asociación Cultural Auchones Libres de las Islas Canarias was founded in 2010 on Tenerife.

It emerged from a shared desire to preserve culture, to understand it as a living force, and to actively contribute to its development. Since then, the community—now comprising around 40 members—has been committed to promoting Canarian identity, fostering cultural exchange, and encouraging a spirit of solidarity.

Its work includes a wide range of initiatives such as cultural activities, lectures, exhibitions, educational projects, and gatherings. In this way, it brings together history, traditions, and contemporary cultural life.

A central thematic focus lies in the appreciation, research, and dissemination of the indigenous roots of the Canary Islands, as well as in the preservation of ancestral cultural heritage.

In addition to looking to the past, the association also directs its activities toward the future by creating spaces for discussion, research, and creative projects. It is committed to democratic values, equality, tolerance, environmental protection, and social responsibility. Through collaboration with public and private institutions, it supports initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and cultural awareness.

Since its founding in 2010, José Damián Fernández Mérida has served as president of the association, shaping its direction and development with his outstanding commitment.

Auchones Libres operate across time: they preserve the past, shape the present, and promote the cultural future.
